I keep heavily planted fresh water tanks, and have been really frustrated at the crappy lights in aquarium hoods. They aren’t meant to keep plants alive, so you’ll need to supplement lighting if that’s your goal. I personally use these as tank light supplement now. I suction-cup them under the hood next to the factory lighting. I have had no problem for years now, so I’m confident in saying this method works. You may need to replace suction cups here and there.The light itself is strong enough to penetrate a duckweed canopy and reach low-to-medium light plants on the bottom of a ten gallon. Without floating plants, this light is sufficient for more light-craving plants. This is necessary for keeping red plants red. Other lights like this may not have the red LEDs, and those don’t work that well for aquatic plants. You will have to use the timer so that you don’t get an algae bloom; but that’s standard. There’s also different setting to mimic dawn and moonlight.I’m love these, always have a couple extra on hand, and recommend it to other fish keepers with live plants. (If you don’t have living plants to keep alive, it’s still nice for ambiance). The remote works, I just don’t use it.

This LED aquarium light is not only very nice and bright, illuminating the tank beautifully, but it also has versatile uses extending far beyond just an aquarium setting. One of my favorite features is the memory function; I absolutely love how I no longer have to readjust my preferred color setting every single time I switch the light on and off, making it incredibly convenient and user-friendly.
