The Gen 2 Spectrum Explained
Enhanced Violet Spectrum: The violet light spectrum is specially developed for optimal SPS/LPS/Soft coral fluorescent color pop, growth, and health.Broader Blue Spectrum: The ideal blue light spectrum, where Chlorophyll absorbs light, is essential for the zooxanthellae within the coral to perform photosynthesis, supplying the coral with energy for growth.Rebalanced Red Spectrum: The Gen 2 offers an appropriate red light spectrum, useful for both coral photosynthesis and visual balance.
Wide Spread & Even PAR
The custom designed lens blends the light in such a way that eliminates the hot spot directly beneath the LED cluster. Its wider output angle ensures optimal PAR across a broader range. Additionally, the lens has a frosted finish that enhances light mixing and prevents the disco-ball effect.

The HyperReef Gen 2’s optical system features an expanded 120-degree output, up from the 90 degrees in Gen 1, ensuring incredibly even PAR distribution across 3ft of coverage. This results in an extremely high average output, making it ideal for LPS and SPS corals.

Advanced Heat Management
An all-new fan maximizes cooling while minimizing noise. Paired with this fan is a completely redesigned integrated CNC heatsink, which includes multiple channels to ensure unobstructed airflow and micro-fins designed to expand the surface area, allowing for superior heat dispersion.

Outstanding Light and Even Better Customer Support
I’ve been running the NICREW HyperReef 200 Gen 2 (200W) on my reef tank and overall I’m extremely impressed with both the performance of the light and, just as importantly, the company standing behind their product. The light itself delivers excellent coverage and intensity for SPS and LPS corals, with strong color pop, good shimmer, and plenty of power. Coral response and growth have been exactly what I was hoping for.I experienced an issue where one of the three LED clusters failed, which was obviously disappointing. However, what really sets NICREW apart is how they handled it. After emailing their support team and sending a photo of the non-working LED, they responded quickly and professionally, without the usual runaround often associated with warranties. They approved the warranty replacement almost immediately and shipped out a brand-new light via FedEx. From the time I first reached out to the time the replacement arrived was about 5 days total, which honestly exceeded my expectations.Mistakes or failures can happen with any product — what matters is how a company responds, and NICREW absolutely nailed it. Fast communication, easy warranty process, and quick shipping.Because of the excellent customer service and the strong performance of the HyperReef 200 Gen 2, I would confidently recommend this light to other reef keepers. It’s reassuring to know the company truly stands behind its gear.Highly recommended.

Buy it!
I’ve been using this light for about 6 weeks now and it is a great coral light. I used this to replace Radion xr15 pro G5’s and my corals are growing way faster now! I can’t believe it. I got the 200 watt light, the controller, and the narrow lenses and I’m probably running about 70% max right now and I’m getting 300- 350 par about 6” below the water surface. My SPS corals are loving the light this thing puts out and are growing like crazy! Buy it! – $1000 for Radions or $400 for this light – it’s up to you!

Unbelievable value for unbelievable quality.
FOR CONTEXT: I have been using a 24 inch ReefBreeder Photon V2+ for a few years now on my 50 galloon lagoon reef with great success but their BOT mounting arms just weren’t easy to deal with and always sagged. So I wanted to look into different options and found the Nicrew lights in my hunt.Having used EcoTech in the past, I was considering Radion XR30s, the new Hydras and AI Blades, but the cost just seemed extortionate. But these Nicrew lights…the price seemed incredible, and I was skeptical of the performance. I decided to purchase 1x 200w Gen 2 to test out on my 50 gallon lagoon with the idea of potentially buying a second to suspend over a 112 gallon lagoon cube I have in the works. If it wasn’t great I would simply return the light.Since I received the light a couple days ago, I’ve been blown away. The packaging is top tier with everything protected and organized flawlessly. The first noticeable thing was the build quality of the light itself- exceptional. The claims that they rival EcoTech Radions is 100% true. The light pucks are ideally spaced with great LED distribution. The real unsung hero of the kit is the mounting arm system. Seriously, this is the best engineered mounting arm of any aquarium lighting fixture I’ve ever used, hard stop, no contest. The fact that it’s heavy, sturdy metal while having great aesthetics is a huge plus. No flimsy gooseneck, no sagging 90 degree arm. They use basic physics to their benefit with a curved semi-circle arm that cuts down on bulk while being incredible strong and resistant to sag- it’s a no brainer! They put a perfectly placed hole in the arm to snake wiring through which sits PERFECTLY in the back curve of the arm and remains clean and out of sight for easy cable management right out of the box.The crown jewel of the mounting arm is that actual mounting bracket is adjustable with only a small set of 2 screws that makes it compatible with rimmed, rimless, and Euro Braced aquariums all without having to buy a completely different mounting system. For me this is a LIFE SAVER as I have both rimmless and euro braced tanks that I can swap these lights between to test without needing to change to a new mounting kit. This is a HUGE deal for me because so many of my past lights often had completely different mounting systems depending on the tank design which was added cost.Cons are minor. Yes, the early batches of these things have loud fans but I’ve been told that the new ones should be shipping with a new board to reduce noise within the next couple of months. In the meantime, Nicrew got back to me within a day and will be sending me new control boards for free for a DIY fix with guided support. TOP NOTCH customer service. The only minor complain I have is that the controller is an absolute must and must also remain PLUGGED IN at all times to utilize any lighting schedules you set up. To be clear, I don’t mind the USB-C daisy chaining at all or using a controller (My ReefBreeders uses a bluetooth but far less intuitive controller and it’s never been a problem) but I wish that the controller was bluetooth at the very least. For the price and quality this is absolutely NOT a deal breaker, but definitely something Nicrew could upgrade in the future.PAR is exceptional. On my 50 gallon lagoon I’m running an AB+ clone reduced to 30% and I’m getting even 100 par across the sandbed and 250+ around the top most of my aquascape with the light mounted roughly 10 inches off the water. There are some hot spots near the middle-top, but this light is also wildly overkill for the 50 lagoon and was only meant to be a proving ground for the larger lagoon build.Seriously, you’re not going to find a better value light than this. Their sleek, effective, and have top tier build quality all for a fraction of the price of the upper-crust brands we all have been gaslit into believing are worth the $1k+ price tags. I’m so happy to see a newer brand shaking up the industry in this way as I believe the lighting solutions for a home reef are becoming cost-prohibitive and producing diminishing returns when it comes to price and generational improvements. You will NOT be disappointed.

Good buy for the money
These are excellent lights. Very good for my marine aquarium. They’re programmable and I think just as good as any led lights you can get for a tank that has coral. Just wish you could program them using your phone.
Christine Young –
It’s a great light, easy to install and easy to program.

Love these. I bought two 150s for my 80 gallon reef tank. A bit of overkill in my opinion, but I reduce the intensity. The tank is still in the cycling phase so I haven’t used them much but I expect them to grow all types of coral. I will update my review if anything unexpected happens.

Perfect nicrew hyperreef for my fish tank and coral

I bought 2 of these July 2025 so 4 months in and I’ve seen some really good growth on most of my corals. I have these on their AB+ setting (on at 8am-7pm), but I love a tank that is more blue. I do have an Orphek that helps with the blue spectrum. On my 90 gallon tank 48″x18″x24″, on the AB+ setting (100% purple and blues, 25% white, red, green) I get an “average” par reading of 210 at the top left and right. 186 at the top middle. 150 middle left and right. 87 middle middle. 65 bottom left and right. 43 in the middle bottom. These lights are great for a mixed reef. Just up the whites, red, and greens for SPS corals. I did buy the controller with them so I do not know how they work without the controller.

Great budget friendly light that doesn’t delivers results.
