A great little pump and a great value
So I use this pump whenever I take a bath. After my bath is done, I like to recycle the water out onto our property to water our landscape trees. This little pump does the job nicely! It’s got just the right amount of power (doesn’t cause water to squirt sky high if the hose comes loose), and it’s also pretty quiet. I can drain a really full bathtub in about two minutes. I may buy another one, because I think it would be a great pump for a backyard water feature (because it’s so quiet, I could have it right on the patio and it wouldn’t be loud). Very happy with this purchase.

Suction power was solid and flow was steady. It also has a flow adjustment on the bottom. It functions as I expected it to and I was able to empty my 5 gallon tank in less than 5 minutes with this pump. I do wish it had a power switch on the power cable that I could use instead of unplugging to turn it off but that may have been left out to keep the electricity away from water. It’s also fairly quiet which is nice. In my videos I had it resting on the bottom of a glass tank and it was vibrating but it comes with rubber feet I hadn’t installed. I liked this one over others because this one comes with the tubing and it’s ready to use out of the box, no guessing which tubing to get. The others cost the same or more but no tubing included which means more money I’d have to spend so this was better value for me. The tubing isn’t the highest quality (it’s flimsy) but seems good enough for water changes and you get like 5 feet of tubing. I got this because I’m setting up another small tank and now that I’ll have two 5 gallon aquariums I’d rather use this to do the water changes than the usual with a cup scooping out water into a bucket. With one tank that was fine but with two I’m good off that, lol. I have a python for my big tanks that connects directly to the sink but I can’t use that on these small tanks since I typically raise baby fish in the smaller tanks and they’d get sucked up for sure and the python is just too big to even fit in these smaller tanks. I don’t think this pump would suck up my baby fish but just in case I might wrap some foam around the intake. That should allow water to flow and keep fish and shrimp safe.

This thing is a damn fire hose pump lol. I was not prepared when I flipped the switch. (Bought separately) there is no switch included. It’s simply plug-in play. I wanted a way to operate separately so I bought one third-party. Anyways, this thing is a hog and does exactly what I needed to. I have another Vivo pump same gallons per minute but it’s not the one that sucks to .39 inches. With a right angle, elbow, stirring my 10 gallon bucket. With this pump directly in the center with a hose leading to my tent I installed a watering can nozzle on the end of the hose and now have an easy and operatable watering system. Great quality, durable, and an extra bang for your buck. Hope this helps Growmies. ✊🏽🌱🪴💚

Good Pump but Tubing Kinks Too EasilyI’ve been running this pump in my hydroponic tower for about 3 months and it does what it needs to do. The 210 GPH flow rate is perfect for circulating nutrients through my system and the adjustable flow is handy for dialing it in.Here’s the problem though. The tubing they include is way too flexible and kinks constantly. When it kinks, water flow stops completely and my tower stops working. I’ve had to straighten it out probably 20 times already, which gets annoying fast.I ended up buying stiffer tubing from the hardware store and that solved it. Cost me an extra 8 bucks for 10 feet of vinyl tubing rated for pumps. Works way better now with zero kinking issues.The pump itself is solid. Runs quietly at under 35 decibels like they claim, suction cups hold it firmly in my reservoir, and it’s been reliable for continuous daily operation. The ceramic shaft replacement is a nice addition for longevity.At this price point compared to other 210 GPH pumps, it’s still decent value. Just know you’ll probably need to swap out the tubing right away if you’re using it for hydroponics with vertical runs. The included tube works fine for horizontal fountain setups but not for tower systems where the tube goes straight up.Would’ve been 5 stars if they just included better quality tubing from the start.

This newer version of Vivosun flat pumps is a significant design improvement. They can fit more easily in the neck of certain kinds of water jugs. On the larger pumps the output has a snug fitting O-ring, on the small pump it’s just a plastic press fit. The older pumps have 1/2″ NPT threaded output nozzles. This is something to consider if you’re using the pump in a planted aquarium or aggressive fish or in a horticulture application where things tend to move around. You can pull these outlet nozzles loose by the hose, and I will probably cement mine in place.As for the pump itself it’s plenty powerful, all 3 sizes respectively, easy to add a filter on the bottom, and appears to be fully serviceable with an included spare impeller shaft.My environment is harsh for pumps. Vivosun pumps in general last for a year or two. The only way they’ve ever failed has been broken impeller housing, clogs from abuse, and overexposure to a desert sunlight environment where I expect very few things to survive. I’ve never had a coil fail or anything that I would consider a safety related issue.So this is pretty much a review of the whole Vivosun line — I hope they don’t discontinue the top-handle style verticle pump. These new ones are objectively better in some ways, but for me they have slightly different expectations in pretty different enviornments/h2o chemistry/plants/critters.TLDR Vivosun pumps A-OK
