Open Window Perch Design Cats Can Jump Onto Easily
I got this window perch for my cat Vinnie, who absolutely loves lounging by the window and watching everything going on outside. Our bedroom window looks out onto a flowering bush that already attracts hummingbirds, so the idea of combining a perch with a bird feeder felt like the perfect setup for him. It basically turned that window into his own little entertainment spot.The design itself feels surprisingly solid. The frame is made of smooth wood that looks nice and feels sturdy once assembled. The platform gives him enough room to sit comfortably, stretch out, or curl up for a nap. Vinnie weighs about 9 pounds and the perch holds him easily without any wobbling or sagging. The suction cups grip the glass well when installed on a clean window, and so far it has stayed firmly in place during normal use.One design feature I really like is that there are no cords running from the perch up to the top suction cups like some window hammocks use. Because of that, nothing gets in the way when he hops up onto it, and there’s nothing hanging down while he’s laying there. It feels much more open and natural for him to jump on and off compared to the cord-style perches.The cushion is also a nice touch. The faux fur pad is soft and cozy and gives the perch a comfortable feel instead of just a hard platform. It removes easily for washing, which is helpful since anything a cat sleeps on eventually needs cleaning.The foldable design is another thoughtful detail. When it’s not in use it can fold flat against the window, which makes it easy to close curtains or blinds without taking the whole thing down.The bird feeder is a fun bonus feature. Since hummingbirds already visit the bush outside the window, it adds another layer of activity for Vinnie to watch while he lounges.Overall this turned out to be a really nice window lounging spot that’s sturdy, comfortable, and genuinely entertaining for a cat who enjoys watching the outdoors. Well made, thoughtfully designed cat window perch
I ordered this because my cats love basking in the sun but have a hard time finding a comfy spot to enjoy the morning sun we get. I thought the southwest facing window would be perfect.Assembly was very straightforward. The perch comes unassembled, but the box includes the screws, an Allen Wrench and an illustrated guide. The wood is really study and nicely sanded and the screw holes lined up perfectly. I had it put together in just a few minutes.One of the instructional photos indicates that I was supposed to put the suction cups on after assembly but they came already attached. Which meant I also couldn’t follow the instructions in the listing that say to soak the suction cups in hot water before applying them to the window. I don’t know if that would have helped it be more secure or not. Instead, I cleaned the window area and put swiped hot water over the suction cups with a sponge before applying them. I probably didn’t wait long enough before insisting my cat try it out and as soon as he did, the suction cups slid down the window. (Just wait longer than I did). But they seem to be secure where they are now and, to my surprise, one of my cats immediately took to this new perch.The fact that the faux fur cover is hammock-style and doesn’t come with anything solid underneath is why I’m giving this four stars instead of five. My hefty cats are each about 15 pounds and there was a clear sag when they were sitting on the cover. I think they’ve probably feel more stable up there if it was more supportive. But I do love how soft and cozy the faux fur is and I think my kitties did as well.The foldable design is also surprisingly handy. I had to adjust the screws a little to find the perfect amount of tightness that would allow them to operate as a hinge but also wouldn’t make the seat part immediately fall back to the down position. But, after I found the sweet spot, it seems to be working well. When I want to close the curtains, I can simply fold the perch flat instead of removing the whole thing from the window.I consider the bird feeder an added bonus and, since I already have lots of bird feeders up, I haven’t used this one yet. I’m actually planning to take it to work and put it on my window there instead. But it looks well made and I’m glad there’s a little roof over the top so birdseed hopefully doesn’t get soggy and moldy. (Oh, one more thing, the description calls this a “hummingbird feeder” but it most certainly isn’t. It’s for birdseed, not liquid hummingbird food. The photo in the listing with the hummingbird is obviously AI generated.)I received these items at no initial cost through the Amazon Vine program and I’m not sure I would pay $39.99 for them. But if you can catch this on sale, it would be worth it. (I also hope the seller updates the listing and the instruction photos to be 100% accurate) I’ll update in the future if anything changes. But for now, my cats and I are pretty excited about this window perch.
