Wood shavings are very thin but keeps down the smell
This bedding works okay and it does help keep the oder down. What I personally didn’t care for is the small thin pieces of shavings that gets tracked all over the cage and in the food bowls. My guineas like to run around the cage and when they do it kicks up the wood shavings and it gets thrown out of the cage on to my floor and makes a mess. I am constantly sweeping them and picking the shavings out of the food bowls.I do have to say that if I had to choose between paper shavings or wood shavings I would definitely choose the Natural Aspen Wood shavings. I just expected the size of the shavings to be a little larger and easier to maintain. The softness of the shavings is nice. My guineas don’t seem to mind walking through it. When I clean the cage the next time I may try to add more shavings in a larger area but I didn’t know how my guineas would react so I just put some in the upper corner of the cage.I will add pictures as soon as my wifi has a better connection.

Deceptive, Don’t order!!! Very tiny package.
This is theft, for $18.00 plus, with tax,I received a tiny bag of wood shavings, about 1/20 of the amount you get typically for 10.00 at the pet store. Don’t order this unless you like wasting your money.

Great for the bottom of a rabbit litter box
I got this so I can use a small layer of it in the bottom of a litter box to help control odors and soak up urine and it works. The litter box my rabbit uses has a grate above it and this is under the grate, so my bunny doesn’t sit in it or track it everywhere. It would be a terrible mess if it weren’t for the grate and I wouldn’t use this only because I wouldn’t want the mess of tiny shavings everywhere. Overall, it does work to keep the smell down for an extra day or 2. It is relatively dust-free and seems like it’s good quality. I feel like a little goes a long way, but it’s still slightly more expensive than I would want to spend on it for every day use.

Really fluffy shavings!
I bought this because I use wood pellet cat litter. If you’re like me and don’t have a sifting box, it can be helpful to have a layer of fluff at the bottle of your cat box to absorb urine and also give them something to cover up other waste with. I’m giving this as a disclaimer that I’m not the intended customer for this, and I’m not really using it for the intended purpose (sort of adjacent, though?)Upon opening, this stuff is seriously fluffy. We had little wood shavings floating around for like 3 days. It was on my socks. It was on the couch. It was on the back of the cat’s head (which was a little funny). The package seems to be a decent size, especially if you are using this as a bedding for a smaller mammal. So far, I’ve not noticed any weird smell. It does really just smell like wood.Cleaning the cat boxes has been fine. I’m especially a fan of how biodegradable this stuff is. It’s a breeze to change their litter. I do feel as though this is helping keep anything from sticking to the plastic — I’d imagine that being something that the owner of a hamster or mouse would appreciate if the bottom of their cage is a plastic bin. I’ve actually noticed a lessening of the dust or pellet crumbles that make their way out of the box, and I’m wondering if it’s because this bedding adds another layer of absorbency to the wood pellets.

Very small pieces with a pleasant woodsy smell
We have been using Kaytee’s Aspen bedding in half of our hamster’s enclosure. (Our hamster prefers paper bedding to do her business, so this makes keeping her habitat clean easier.)Compared to Kaytee, these wood pieces are smaller and more like sawdust than chips or shavings. (See picture where I used this bedding in the corner and kept the older Kaytee bedding in the open areas.) These chips do have a light pleasant woody smell that is more noticeable than Kaytee’s bedding, and it does feel a little drier than our existing bag, which has been sitting open.So I do think if our hamster was to make her potty area in the wood bedding, this would do a better job of absorbing and controlling odors, and that would make it worth the cost difference.
