What is this cuttlebone made of and what minerals does it contain?
This is 100% natural cuttlebone, sourced from cuttlefish and sun-dried. It naturally contains calcium carbonate along with trace minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and zinc. No added ingredients or vitamins.
What type of calcium does this provide, and how is it different from mineral blocks?
The calcium occurs naturally as calcium carbonate. Many mineral blocks are pressed products made from calcium sulfate, whereas this is a whole, unprocessed cuttlebone with no fillers or binders.
Does this contain plaster, fillers, or artificial additives?
No. This is a single-ingredient product with no fillers, binders, plaster of Paris, or artificial materials.
How does cuttlebone benefit birds beyond calcium?
In addition to mineral access, birds chew cuttlebone for natural beak conditioning and enrichment, helping maintain beak shape through instinctive chewing.
Is it safe for birds to have daily access, and can they overconsume it?
Yes. Birds typically self-regulate mineral intake and chew only as needed, making it safe for continuous cage access.
Which bird species can use this cuttlebone?
Suitable for parakeets, budgies, cockatiels, finches, canaries, and many other small to medium pet birds.
Can this cuttlebone be used for other animals?
Yes. It may also be used as a natural calcium source for tortoises, turtles, and snails when used appropriately.
How should this cuttlebone be used in a cage or enclosure?
Attach it to cage bars using a holder or place it securely so animals can access it easily for chewing.
Where is this cuttlebone sourced and how is it processed?
It is harvested and traditionally sun-dried in Vietnam, a natural drying method that helps preserve its structure and mineral content.
Is cuttlebone a food replacement or a supplement?
It is a mineral supplement and enrichment chew, not a replacement for regular food.

All natural & clean cuttlebone!
I order the 3.5-4” cuttlebones for my daughter’s aquarium to make sure her snails have hearty & healthy shells as they grow. These were well packaged, at least 4” in length if not more and reasonably priced. There’s no smell to the to them which is a plus. It was easy to break off a couple pieces and place them in her tank and it didn’t take long for them to soften up. They should last us awhile but I’ll definitely plan to buy again when we run out. I haven’t been able to find them in store near us, especially not all natural ones.

Nice, Real Cuttlebones. Happy Birdy!
I love a real cuttlebone and so does my bird. These are great. They arrived a bit broken but the bird didn’t care. Nice big supply.

Bird loved it, so I assume it tasted good
One of the ratings for this item was flavor but since I have never tasted cuttlebone I can’t comment. My bird, however, seemed to think it was good because she took an instant liking to it. Truth be told I had never even heard the term cuttlebone until I recently inherited my sisters parakeet and someone I know with birds suggested it. The price was quite reasonable and it included two in the package so I’m guessing I’ll have my cuttlebone needs fulfilled for quite a while. What amazes me most however is that someone figured out that a non seabird such as parakeet would be interested in some sort of ocean animal but they certainly are. I recommend getting one for your bird – they’ll thank you.Update – while the birds (i just inherited another one) really like this the clip that is attached to it should be redesigned as it has made attaching it to the cage difficult. It fell off a couple times now so I had to attach it with a piece of bailing wire. For this reason I’m deducting one star

Rusty metal inside of bone???!
I’m not sure why there was even a metal shoved through the bone to begin with but there is and it is extremely rusty and left rust marks along the inside of the bone where it was shoved through. When I was getting it out the bone shattered; the other bone had no metal inside of it but was shattered inside of the package. I think they are old, the one with the rust is definitely old because it’s literally RUSTY. The texture is also off not that of what the bone should be and I don’t think the nutrients are correct because it smells weird too but that may also be because of the rust. I’d like to know why the hell there was even a piece of metal shoved through the inside of the bone to begin with let along a fricking rusty one. Ridiculous. Wtf

My snails love it!
Always come back to this because my snails love it. Perfect sizing, not too chipped (even though the little guys don’t mind, they just eat lol) 💙

Exactly what I needed
These work perfect to add to an aquarium for snails and shrimp to have a little more calcium in the water column. The ingredients are simple and direct. They are healthy for a bird, insect or aquarium pets. They break apart easily if you need them to and they seem last a long time. I couldn’t be happier with this brand.
