Good for a cat that doesn’t like smelly food
This is one of the foods my baby will eat, she’s very picky about smell and consistency. It’s palatable. (With that said my other cat doesn’t care for it, however she tends to like more gravy foods.)This might be the only food she doesn’t cover up after she eats. It seems to be high quality.It’s not the cheapest food but it’s worth it.Occasionally I use Forti-flora on top of it for more palatability

Don’t buy this for MALE cats!
I have 2 indoor male cats. One of them ended up with a urinary blockage (which is absolutely a medical emergency) because of this food. The vet bill when all was said and done was just over $3500. How do I know this food caused it? Because two different and unaffiliated vets who examined my poor kitty told me.Both cats seemed to like this food. After a couple of weeks of feeding this to them, I noticed one of my kitties started to lick his privates pretty incessantly. Apparently, if they keep pushing their penis out to lick it, there’s a problem. After a couple days of this new behavior, he came right up to where I was sitting, popped a squat in front of me, appeared to ‘try’ to push something out, and then let out an awful cry. He ran off and there was nothing on the floor where he was. This was very strange, so I googled “cat licking privates” and all the results warned this was probably a medical emergency. I’m thankful he did something out of the ordinary to get my attention because this very well could have killed him.So I drove my kitty to the 24-hour emergency vet where he had to be admitted 4 days. During his time there, they had to insert a catheter, do x-rays, bloodwork, urine samples, pain killers, anti-biotics, give fluids, the works. He had a urinary blockage coupled with a bladder infection. When asked if I had changed his diet at all, I mentioned the Blue Buffalo, and the vet immediately stopped me and said this brand is known to cause urinary crystals. I was shocked seeing as how BB markets itself as a premium cat food brand.We were lucky to get off with a $3500 bill – he didn’t need surgery, and his bladder didn’t rupture. I took him to his normal vet for a follow-up check-up 10 days later, and this vet also confirmed that BB can cause crystals that can cause blockages. Apparently, it’s more common in male cats because their urethra is a lot narrower than a females, so blockages can occur easier.I’ll never buy anything from this brand again.

Inconsistent texture
We have been buying this for years but my most recent delivery came with some cans that were extra watery with less chunks than usual, so quality control seems to be an issue.
