Nice little cage
I switched to this cage over a plastic bottomed petsmart cage because I liked the legs and wanted to be able to vacuum underneath. I put it together by myself and it took about 45mins to assemble. I did use a drill as other reviews had said this was the easiest way to put it together without the wood splintering. The instructions were fairly easy to follow, everything was numbered and packaged separately. When I took it out of the box some of the pieces were stained and I noticed the margins were a little bit off when drilling pieces together(legs not quite lining up with the front outside of the cage, top piece hanging very slightly over the right side of the cage). That aside it still looks very nice when assembled and has plenty of room for my two Guinea pigs who are really loving it. I especially like the plastic panel into the den area as I can see them through it and the easy pull out bottom to clean them out without having to remove them. For the money I definitely think it’s worth the price. As I just put it together yesterday I can’t speak on the durability of the cage but it does seem fairly sturdy and the latches are secure.

Nice cage
I really like this cage so far! I got it for my Syrian hamster and it’s PLENTY of room. It was very easy to assemble on my own. FYI you willneed a power drill. It feels kind of flimsy when putting it together, but once it’s all together it is fine. It definitely wouldn’t do well if it had to be moved around a lot as it’s basically plywood. Since purchasing, I’ve seen others of the exact same model and design go for closer to $100 or less so just keep an eye out. I think it’s worth the cost for around $100.

A pretty great “critter habitat” and I’m very happy with it!
OK, so first — I had this delivered to me VERY EARLY — so that was fantastic! (It was supposed to be here this coming Wed., but I received it last Thursday, and had the entire long weekend to assemble it, and fill it up!) Secondly, I bought this for my four pet “Fancy Mice” (a mama and three of her female offspring). I can’t tell you how perfect it is for them, and since they’ve all been living in a tiny little 10-gallon aquarium, I can tell they feel like they’ve moved into the Taj Mahal!Assembly was pretty darn easy, and I did it all by myself, with my husband’s drill, to screw in all the screws. The only trouble I had was when it came time to screw the hinges onto the upper “lid” of this “critter habitat.” The screws just would NOT go in, and once I DID get them to go into the wood, they just made a big hole, and were very wobbly. So I ended up taking all the screws out, and applying “hot glue” with my glue gun, all around the threads of the screws, quickly reinserting them, and using a screw-driver to insert them just a hair deeper. If that becomes a problem later and the screws loosen, I will have to put the hinges back on in a different spot, and will remember NOT to use the electric drill. I didn’t have that problem with ANY of the other wood during assemblage, but this wood seemed different. Harder, but somehow not friendly to screws!Reading other customer’s comments, I decided to paint “Mod Podge” over EVERY square inch of the wood on the interior, so that my mice won’t come up against raw wood, and chew on it. So far, so good! They are not chewing on it at all, and have been living in it since Friday. (It’s now Monday.) The only down-side to the application of Mod-Podge was that it made the ramp up to the top level a bit slick, so they couldn’t get up. Easy fix — I just created a ladder for them out of thick pipe-cleaners, and attached it to the ramp. They have no problems getting up and down now, which is important since I’ve put all their food on the upper level. (Less Aspen-wood-chips and bedding ends up in the food bowls this way!)I also added another whole panel of plexiglass to the very front of the largest part of this enclosure, and just glued the edges to the wire-mesh with my hot-glue gun. Since mice are small, I didn’t want them to try to get out of the 1/2″ mesh-holes. My mice are all adults, but I might decide to get new babies someday. Also, I usually give them about 4-5″ of bedding on the bottom, and this will ensure that none of that gets “kicked out” and onto my floors.Another feature I was overjoyed about was the extra screen that came with this, to place over the top of the tray underneath. I had been worried before buying this that when taking the tray out to clean out the old bedding, my mice might escape, and anything I had on “the bottom” of the habitat would need to be removed first. NOPE! Everything sits on that screen, and the tray slides out underneath it, leaving everything intact. I was so relieved to realize this … because you really can’t tell by the advertised description. (Well, at least I couldn’t tell!) I also love the different levels, and the fact that there is a big “hidey-place” for them on the lower level.I’m absolutely in love with this critter habitat, and SOOOO happy I purchased it! It seems very well-made, despite the soft wood which might be prone to breaking down later, through chewing, or just age. But I do think the application of the Mod-Podge will help with that. Overall, it’s wonderful, and I highly recommend it — especially for pet Fancy Mice, or rats!

Super cute.. but
So a few things I was looking for when trying to find something for my quail was space. Everything says it fits 2 of something. Honestly putting two guinea pigs in this or anything bigger than a hamster.. is pretty rude. The size is not adequate. I have 4 button quail in one now. Super tiny birds and it’s okay for them. Again. Hamster cage size. BUT ITS SUPER CUTE ✨✨✨ made good for the price. Not washable. Material will fall apart easy

Cute Cage, easy to put together, just had a little smell.
First off, when I opened the box. It had a strong smell, it smelled like herbs or maybe wood stain? When I started to put it together via the instructions, I did realize that some holes were not drilled for the pegs you slide in to. It wasn’t that big of a deal, I removed the pegs and drilled the screws in perfectly fine. It’s very roomy for my bunny just wish it didn’t have such a strong smell.

Better than the sum of its parts. Easy assembly
When I first started pulling the contents out, I was unsure of how sturdy it would be. I wasn’t expecting mahogany or oak, but it’s pretty light wood. It’s important to lay everything out in an open room. Each of the larger pieces are numbered. Make sure to be mindful that each fastener and screw is labeled in the instructions. *MAKE SURE TO ASSEMBLE THE SIDE OPENING TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE “HIDE BOX”!! The instructions were unclear on that. After it’s put together, it really is sturdy and a nice unit. Much easier than trying to hammer and saw something that looks presentable in a house. I’ve had no issues with my gerbil trying to chew it. Overall, it’s a great value for the money. Everything is easy access to clean and the size makes a big difference. I’d buy again.
