Really nice tank light
I’m really happy with this aquarium light. I wish I picked up a larger one just to be ready for a larger tank, but this one does fit my 5.5 gallon really nicely. I never realized how little light my basic tank hood made until using this light. This thing is BRIGHT.Since using this, my plants have really took off. My cabomba is really thriving under this light. I’m still struggling with my ludwigia and java ferns, but my java moss is going crazy with the light. My betta doesn’t really care much, but the tank looks so much nicer with this light.The light is well built, with the PCB inside the light itself is potted for extra moisture protection. The controls are really the only weak point on this light.I wish there was a way to make the sunrise and sunset things longer, and that you could maybe set a clock. Any time you adjust the light settings it loses its timer, which is a bit of a pain since you have to set the timer when you want the timer to start the cycle.

Seems to be the hobby standard for LED lights
I saw a good deal on a 20-gallon aquarium at a local store, so I took it home. I had tanks as a kid and figured why not. Stopped at a fish shop a few weeks later and all of his tanks had modern LED lights instead of the fluorescent hood I had used in the ’80s. Went home and did some research.Again and again the Hygger name is mentioned as the one to get. Digging deeper, it seems it’s because they’re full-spectrum lights that are great for plants and fish and other aquatic life. Sounded good to me.This is a very bright light, much brighter than the old fluorescent tubes I remember as a kid. I turn it down, sometimes as low as 50% because that seems like enough light for the aquarium (it doesn’t have plants yet; I’m working on that). It has a whole “morning into day into night” cycle that you can easily run with the in-line remote (it’s on the power cord so you can’t lose it), but I don’t run that because there’s natural light in the room and I’m at work all day when it would run anyway.It seems short for a 20-gallon aquarium, which is 24” wide (and they recommend up to 24” for this light). It has extendable legs which will reach to 24”, but the light will sag if it’s not resting on the glass canopy over the tank. I wouldn’t recommend using it on a 24” tank if you don’t plan to use a cover (this is common with planted tanks, it seems—I’m still learning all this)., because it will sag in the middle and not look great.The manual is fantastic if you’re a person who reads manuals. Every function and feature is carefully laid out in clear language. Other companies could learn from this example. There’s a lot this light can do and it’s all very clear.Really cool light that’s very easy to use and a good value for the money—and from what I understand they’re very reliable. Looking forward to starting some planting and getting some fish.

Shorter than expected. Go bigger!
Much shorter than expected. I got this for a 29 gallon tank that measures 30 1/4″ Although I am able to use it for the tank as the legs expand outward. It feels like it is about to fall in and even bends a little because the legs are so far out not giving it proper support. The description states this light is 24″ long but is really 21 1/4″ as shown in my photo. I would recommend going a size up if the length of your tank falls in the middle.Otherwise, I really like this light. It is slim and looks clean on the tank. The lighting looks very natural and lights up the tank great. I love having so many features. The built in timer is a great feature making my life simpler. It also has many various light settings to change the colors and provide different looks. It comes with two different leg heights. It feels like a nice quality light that will last a long time and looks greatbon my tank (other than not spanning the whole length as I would like).
