Sturdy and well made!
I read so many reviews on this and comparable free standing parrot perches and I’m so glad I chose this one. It’s very easy to put together. The instructions were great and the tools provided fit the task well. It looks nice. It’s very sturdy and rolls easily. The medium size is perfect for my African grey and only took him a short while to learn to love it. I don’t know why there were any bad reviews on this product. If you take a moment to put it together correctly it’s perfectly sturdy.

Such a great sturdy tall perch at a great price
I looked at a lot of perches on Amazon and they frequently show a giant Macaw photoshopped onto a perch to make it seem more of an impressive size. Imagine my surprise when I came across this perch stand from Kaytee. Of course, Kaytee has been around a long time, supplying your birdy needs so you can trust that their company is reliable. This stand is a good size. I am 5’9” tall and the perch portion comes up to my shoulder. The catch pan is about hip high on me. My rescue African Gray Bogart sits out on the screened porch and loves it. He can’t climb off of it and never tries to get down and rip apart the papers in the catch pan.( Moluccan cockatoo owners you will have to make your own decision about this one. You know what escape artists (and lock pickers) they can be.) This was fairly easy to put together. If I had to do it again, I would put the base and top together separately then attach them. My perch holes were not drilled all the way through but the wood was soft enough to chisel away with a screwdriver. I would also make a template for the pan liner, and make yourself a few already cut to size. I unscrew the perch top which is really easy, and remove the liner, replace it, then put the perch back on and hand tighten it, but you could just make a slit to the center of a circular pan liner too. You will not be sorry if you order this great perch.

Great sturdy stand for our Amazon!
This is a great bird stand that we use for our Amazon and she is very happy with it and so are we. We did make some modifications to it because our Amazon does not have a cage that she sleeps in at night but uses this as her night time stand where we keep in our bedroom so she can be close to us. Our bird is a rescue and as time has gone on she started to develop anxiety. She has severe separation anxiety and used to scream for hours when we went to bed without her, this stand solved the problem. We also use the stand to move around the house so she can be close to us when she wants to be but for the most part this is her stand that she uses to sleep on. When she is not using this stand she is on her large jungle gym in our porch.This is a great stand to have for bird owners that want to have their birds close to them. I like that it has wheels and you can move it around from room to room. It is very sturdy and not flimsy. It holds our Amazon without any problems and when she flaps her wings it stays in place.I would recommend this stand to all bird owners that would like to have their babies close to them in the house. Especially if you are in the kitchen and your bird can’t see you and starts to scream! This would be the perfect solution to keeping your bird feel safe by having them near you.Since our bird is medium/large size being an Amazon and really prefers her stand that we got the day we rescued her my husband removed the perch and we placed her portable perch stand on top of the tray. It is what she likes and she is more comfortable with the size of her perch than what came with it. That was the only drawback to this bird stand is that it does not work well with larger birds but we really could not find anything else and really liked the design of this one. So, if you do have a large bird you can always make modifications the way we did. It does not take away from the stand being sturdy.

Better than average
1st playstand was damaged in shipment so another was sent. Box showed some damage but minus a couple of small dents I kept the 2nd one. Easy to assemble. I slightly modified the. Perch using a manzanita perch instead of the one supplied. I only used one food dish as using 2 as supplied leaves little standing room for the bird. It is a good looking playstand that is powder coated. It probably won’t rust. I bought it for an African grey parrot and it is the perfect size, large enough for my cockatoo. I like it but my bird is not liking it. No fault of the playstand. In time, the bird will get use to it. It stands rather tall so maybe this is the problem. The birds old playstand rusted out so this is why I purchased this one.Update: it took about a month for my AG to get use to this perch. Quite typical, as AG’s are sensitive to change. She likes it now. I like it too as it is easy to clean, good looking and doesn’t stain or get marred from bird droppings. Great perch for the money if you are lucky enough to get one that isn’t damaged in shipping. Also, suggest modification to a natural wood perch like I have done. I don’t like the wooden dowel supplied.

No substitute for quality!
So, like most of you, I looked at the cheapie stands first. Hard to beat $30 for a parrot stand…. but. I read lots of reviews that talked about how flimsy the cheap stands were. So, since I have 5 parrots ranging from a Parrotlet to an M2… I decided to pop for the name brand. And, I was not disappointed. Everything fit right, the stand is pretty solid and stable, and it’s BIG! I was also impressed that tools to assemble were included and a good instruction sheet showing how to assemble it. I would definitely recommend this to prospective buyers and would, or will, buy again if I need another stand.
