Wow! These are great clippers! At the moment we have two Chihuahuas and three Chorkies at our house. That’s a lot of little toe nails! Circumstances of family health have meant some delay in doggie pedicures. Faced with a bit of nail overgrowth (nothing horrid like ingrown dewclaws, OUCH!), all the dogs nails needed attention.I bought these clippers after reading Amazon reviews. I have a pair of small guillotine clippers, but my dogs hate them. They wiggle too much, and it’s too hard to get each nail steady inside the hole of the cutters. So I tried this scissors type nail clipper from Paws Brothers.If you are unsure of your ability to cut your dogs nails correctly, or if your dog wont cooperate with having this done, there are excellent You Tube videos that show you how to train your dog to be a good beauty parlor customer!Before I started to actually cut their nails, I spent some time handling each dog’s feet, with praise for calm behavior and an occasional treat. Then I introduced the clippers, not cutting, just holding them near their feet. Again, praise and an occasional treat. They think their kibble is a treat if I say its a treat and hand feed it!They were calm after dinner, so I started cutting nails. Some nails are white and some are black so I was careful not to cut too much off, since I couldn’t always see the quick at the base of the nail. I worked with each dog for a while, going at the dog’s pace, giving praise and a treat after each cut. The other dogs were waiting eagerly when they saw treats were being passed out to the “victim”, er, pampered pup!These clippers I chose are a medium size, and even though my dogs are small, Chihuahuas can have thick, strong nails. I found this size did the job perfectly. The blades are very sharp and made of stainless steel. The sharp blades mean no crushing of the nail or pulling, adding greatly to the dogs comfort.The handles have a screw holding the two parts together to clean and adjust. The handles are very well made, comfortable to use and are non-slip with finger grips. They also lock closed for safety.All five stars, no cons, I have recommended these to several friends. If you are new to nail trimming or a veteran, you’ll be pleased with the ease of use and quality of these doggie nail cutters.

Best nail clippers I’ve tried!
Our dog is about 70lbs with thick black nails, and he’s super resistant to getting his nails trimmed or dremeled, even with medication and treats. These cut through his nails really easily and he actually fell asleep while I was cutting them! Before these, the best clippers I’d tried were Miller’s Forge, and while those were nice these Paw Brothers clippers worked much better, and were more ergonomic to use. I was a little worried the medium size might be too small, but they worked great.

I have mini dachshunds so it’s very hard to find a nail clipper that is the right size without it being a cat clipper which is too small this was perfect trims their nails like butter.

After years of going through other nail trimmers – these are the best I have ever used! They are so sharp getting through the thickest of nails. They are so easy to use fit very nicely in my hand! I own two pairs and they hold up very well. I do like the color although I wish they had some pink ones!

Not for big dog nails
Pretty useless for my Cane Corso or Presa Canario nails. Went back to my very old dog nail clipper that has continued to work for decades of dogs. I assumed a new one would be so such sharper & easier to use. I was wrong.

From a groomers perspective…
These are the only nail clipper I have ever, or will ever use. I always get the medium size, and they work great for cats, as well as dogs of all sizes. They are effective on large breeds, because they are sharp, so they allow you to shape the nail while cutting. This is super useful for animals that won’t tolerate dremmeling. Freshly trimmed nails can be sharper than untrimmed nails a lot of times. Getting all of the sharp edges seems tedious, but it can be super important for pet owners that suffer from medical issues that inhibit healing. It’s also not very fun for small children. Also, just because your pet has large nails, doesn’t mean you have ultra big hands. Larger nail trimmers are a hassle for those of us with smaller hands. They aren’t easy to hang on to. Paw Brothers has always been a reliable brand in my eyes. Not just their nail clippers, but also pin brushes, and especially their ear cleaning solution. I highly recommend that people that own any pet with nails (especially bunnies really) purchase a pair of these.

I got my first pair over 10 years ago. Used them daily on countless dogs, cats, and rabbits. Have never needed sharpening
