Disappointed
Update October 9, 2025. I contacted Star Mark because I knew there was something wrong with these clickers and they very kindly sent me three new ones which click perfectly so obviously just a bad batch. Everybody was very helpful. I knew I loved Star Mark products just had a nasty experience with a bad batch. New clickers work perfectly pushed down perfect click that was the problem with the prior three you had to wrestle the click down and it didn’t really make a noise. Very happy with my new clickers.I have used these clickers before and they worked great. Good solid sound and easy to press. I just purchased three so that I could have them at each door to call our new dog who I trained on the star Mark clicker that I had from a few years ago. The three clickers that I purchased don’t click very well. Don’t make a very good sound and you really have to press to get the clicker to make the sound all three are a disappointment. I still have one clicker from a couple of years ago and I’m using that one almost exclusively the three that I purchased look exactly the same, but don’t work nearly as well. Very disappointed in whatever they’ve done to them because they don’t work like they used to.

Works Great Once You Know How to Use It!
When I first got this clicker, I almost returned it—I was clicking it through the packaging and it only seemed to work half the time. I thought it was defective. Luckily, my fiancé pointed out that you need to press it at the bottom, not the middle or top. Once I did that, it clicked perfectly every time. It’s reliably loud enough for outdoor training sessions, and I love that it attaches easily to my Ruffwear treat pouch. Plus, it looks sleek and feels durable. Great tool for training once you get the hang of where to press!

I have bought a ton of clickers and this one is the best.
I have purchased my fair share of different clickers even before I actually had my puppy. The feel and sound of the clicker matters as far as ease of use. You need the clicker to be a almost involuntary action on your part and for that to happen you need to be comfortable with the clicker. Clicker training is all about the timing of the click. You are the operator of the clicker have to be able to hold it, use it, while you are doing other things as well. You will be watching your dog very closely, you will be getting treats ready to present and you will be holding the clicker in one of your hands. So for it all to come together correctly you have to feel comfortable with the size, the way it clicks and the amount of noise it makes. You might be thinking I am crazy to think it matters this much? If you want clicker training to work you have to be able to click exactly when you get the behavior you are looking for not 3 seconds after as you fumble around and find the clicker and then hit it. So my point is it should fit in your hand easily, not take too much pressure to click. I have used at least 5 different types of clickers out there and I have found that this one is the right shape, size, noise level, etc to work well with all the other things you are doing while you are clicking. I highly recommend buying at least 5. esp. if you are not the only person working with training your dog. Everyone should have their own clicker, and you will lose some on walks etc.. It is always good to have a backup clicker. The dog really does learn to idenify that exact sound. When I am out with my dog and he is off leash all I have to do is click 1x and he comes running.

Loud enough for my barky boy to hear
Very happy with this purchase. We previously had a purple colored clicker from a pet store but it didn’t seem loud enough to get our dogs attention. I purchased this clicker because I want to get back on track with our dog’s behaviors. The clicker fits well in the palm of my hand and is easy to use in the moment. It does not come with a strap or elastic to help hold it, but it does have a small hole to add one yourself. I plan to loop a small hair tie through so I can slide the tie over my finger for better hold. Over all very happy with the quality of the clicker for its price. Others mentioned a rattling when you shake it. I barely notice it- I think it’s just louder in my video based on the proximity of the clicker to the phone. Will definitely be purchasing 1-2 more to have on hand in case we lose this one.

Easier to use
Works as intended with added features which make it easier to hold the clicker and access the button

well made, much too loud for us
This clicker feels great in hand. It’s sturdy, well-made and reliable. But it is too loud to use indoors without disturbing or startling other people in the house. Outside, you can hear it a block away — good for some circumstances, but not for me. Using this caused learning to go backwards with my dog. My dog’s obedience to commands like sit and stay–which she already had perfectly–degenerated in reaction to the noise of this clicker. I can’t even imagine using it with a cat. After this, I bought the Karen Pryor KPCT clickers and started over. My dog is still in recovery from using the StarMark clicker, but improving again as she begins to associate the KP clicker with good things. The KP clicker sounds like a pen click. It’s enough for us. To be complete, my dog is fearful of thunder and fireworks (though not continuous loud noises like power saws, lawn mowers or loud music). Unless you need extreme loudness, buy the Karen Pryor clickers instead. Karen Pryor i click clicker – BLACK, for Clicker Training And do not even try this StarMark clicker at all if your dog is noise averse. There’s no need to scare your dog and struggle to get her used to this loud sound when there’s a good quieter clicker out there. If your dog is OK with shotguns, nail guns, fireworks and other explosions and you need to be heard above other noises or over long distances, though, the StarMark would be a good choice.
