Whisper is a bench mark of quiet quality – Update 09/30/21 lasted 7 years!!
I first began using Whisper air pumps as a child over thirty years ago. (Back then they were tan and the air filter could be popped out.) They were the best then and I am pleased to say that I find them to be the best now. I am using the Whisper 20 for an over stocked ten gallon tank. It is working very well to supply a large air stone. This pump was a replacement for an identical pump that was eight years old.The old pump had lost its power, but it was still going strong and it was ever so quiet. This new one is doubly powerful. I had no idea I had lost so much performance with the old one. I know I could have purchased a parts kit to fix the old one, but it was just easier and less hassle to buy a new one. The new pump is slightly louder than the under performing old pump, but the difference is negligible. I would expect no less of a brand new replacement device with about double the output of the old device.I am very happy with my purchase. I highly recommend this product for performance, longevity and silence.UPDATE September 30, 2021 – Just a few comments concerning longevity. I have purchased this pump from Amazon three times. This most recent third purchase a couple days ago was to replace my second pump which LASTED OVER 7 YEARS!! – That’s a pretty good run. While the old pump still did work, it had developed a terrible rattle.I noticed the new model says it’s for 10-30 gallons as opposed to 10-20 gallons like the older model. They’ve updated the color from blue to charcoal gray. (See my side by side photos of the old model on the left and the new on the right.) – I think they have phased out the 10-20 version. I didn’t notice a change in air pressure on my tank. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PUMP DELIVERING A HIGHER PRESSURE, PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NOW A VALVE INCLUDED TO ADJUST PRESSURE.And THEY HAVE NOW INCLUDED A CHECK VALVE. It’s really about time they did that because it’s a cheap fix to prevent tank water siphoning into the pump if the power goes out. That’s a disaster in the making. The valve even has an arrow to indicate which way the air flow should go (please notice my photo). If you are new to keeping fish, for safety reasons: Please keep in mind to always use a check valve, no matter where you position your pump.

This thing lasts —- more than 10 years so far!
10 years and 6 months. This is how long this air pump has lasted —- so far. It’s been sitting outside half of that time. Still very quiet and working fine. The only thing that has broken is 1 of the 2 air outlets that broke off about 3 years ago. Guess the plastic aged a bit too much. But air continues to come out of that little hole. I only need 1 of the 2 air outlets for now for a small pond but can glue air tubing directly on there any time if needed.

Great price, I bought this item on sale for 9 dollars, it works great. It is really quite, at full output. Now full output for me was a bit too much. I used the adjustable flow rate to decrease output. Now one thing I did notice here is when you lower the flow rate it gets louder. Now its not loud or anything of the sort but it gets louder. If you twist rapidly to change the flow rate it starts to vibrate more, and if bumping against something it can get loud. After playing around with the adjustable flow rate, I notice if I adjust the flow rate slowly there are no vibrating issues, and as long as its not hitting something on the site you won’t hear it. The bubbles it produces is louder than the motor itself. Where you set it depends on the noise itself. Its a rotating motor, so if you put it on wood its going to sound like your phone on vibrate. * Buzz buzz*. I set mine on my desk on top some cloth. No issues what so ever. Great price.*Note does not come with a check value* If you set it below the height of your tank, and you turn off the motor, it may be possible for water to leak back in and damage, or make your motor much louder. Two solutions, place this air pump at least 12 ft above your max water level or use a check value (about $2)

Es una bomba excelente, buena potencia para las piedras aireadoras de 15 cm de largo.EL nivel de ruido es casi cero, si está en una superficie firme; de hecho, es prácticamente cero cuando la suspendes en la mano.Me encanta porque por la noche no produce ruido que genera ruidos que afecten conciliar el sueño o lo interrumpan aunque esta a unos 10 metros de mi cama.

I previously had several Aqueon QuietFlow Air Pumps and while they were good generally, the last one did not last as long and got very loud, burned out 2 outlets on my powerbar and in the end, I replaced it with this pump. It is very quiet and functions well for my 20-gallon tank (with an sponge filter and airstone)

Better do not buy this item as it makes too much noise. It is as if you are running an IC engine after removing the silencer! I opened the pump and saw that the diaphragm holding vibrating arm has not been cut to corret size and it was hitting against the body of the pump which was causing the loud noise. Even if this problem is resolved, the vibration of the pump is simply unbearable! There are other pumps in the market almost in the same price range and are lot quieter and with less vibration!

Just set up this air pump and I am SO happy – I can’t hear it because it’s quieter than my filter; before this, I was using another air pump which drove me absolutely crazy – had to turn it off at night because it was too loud. It’s a little bigger than my old one but given how quiet it is, I don’t care that it takes up more space. It’s also extremely strong, lots of air bubbles coming out compared to my old one (which worked fine but there is a very noticeable difference between the two). It come with a control valve, so if you don’t want such strong circulation, you can always attach and adjust air flow accordingly.
