Great for under-gravel filter
I put 2 of these in a 20-gal Goldfish tank to power an under-gravel filter. They are quiet. They seem to be performing well. I use the short nylon tubing with the control valve to adjust the bubbles produced. This eliminated the need for a secondary pump to create bubbles/aeration. The quality of this item seems to be better than expected. I will definitely purchase again if the need arises.

Noisier than expected initially…
This pump is perfect in many way, from the adjustable air flow to the ease of setting it up. The only drawback is the noise, at least for the first few days. Once hooked up and running, this powerhead sounds as if you’ve jammed it too close to the side, or that its vibrating against something…but the bottom line is that it is just noisy and will remain so for about 72 hours before settling into a “normal” sound. Don’t fret if you’ve moved this all over your tank, just to see if that makes a difference (it won’t). It initially sounds as if your pump has fallen against the cabinet (my first thought), or that it just needs a few minutes or hours to settle and quiet down, or that you simply need to unplug it and try plugging it in again (did both of those). But the bottom line…it’s noisy. Now on the morning of day 4, I awaken to…quiet, well at least quiet as in a normal pump sound. The set up, the adjustable air flow, the pump itself, the price, all great. Just be aware that you may need to be a bit patient with a constant hum for 48-72 hours (and just think of what your fish are feeling).

Loud vibration sound from inside the unit. I have one from a previous order and it is very quiet. Made an exchange for another one.

Careful
Well it is a great and quiet pump I’ll give you that. Lots of force and great bubbling system. But !!! If you have a community fish tank. This will kill your fish. How? The filter part is like a little basket. Any small guppy and smaller will get suck onto it. One my angel fish was struggle to move out of its way as it felt the pulling force. Machine work well but I would not recommend this for a community tanks. I put this in my 80g tank

Excellent, QUIET, and Powerful water mover.
I have two of these now. And will be buying more. I used one to make the PVC internal filter in the video, and will be posting a DIY video to Dave_Craine TheAccidentalAquarist on YouTube soon. This is a great unit for moving water around and spoiler alert; it worked as perfectly as Id hoped. The suction cup mount is better than any other in-tank mount I’ve used. (Lookin at You, SICCE) I’m going to get another one just to build more filters!!
